5-HTP, natural supplement still largely unknown and rarely used to treat anxiety, has attracted more attention after good results in the natural treatment of anxiety, when administered correctly.
5-HTP stands for 5-hydroxytryptophan, an amino acid precursor of serotonin. When ingested, causes some tryptophan becomes protein, some being in niacin (vitamin B3) and others go to the brain for conversion into serotonin (neurotransmitter), a substance essential for the functioning of the brain responsible for regulating mood also and voltage levels.
A common cause of anxiety is a disorder known as SDS or Serotonin Deficiency Syndrome, caused by serotonin levels below normal in the brain. This causes the brain to regulate bad mood, stress, and appetite and sleep processes. This added may negatively influence and increase anxiety levels. The function of 5-HTP is to supply the lack of serotonin, causing ultimately reduce anxiety levels considerably. Other methods of increasing anxiety and regulate serotonin are also available, however, there are natural treatments and can cause negative side effects.
The dose to be administered to control the anxiety through the 5HTP should always be made on prescription, is more common daily consumption of 100mg of 5HTP. In the case of anxiety, the effects provided by 5HTP are not instantaneous, and there are cases in which the brain can take about a month to fully benefit from the supplement. The use of 5-HTP should be observed when a person makes use of another drug that also increases the production of serotonin.
NOTE: 5-HTP should not be used for at least two weeks prior to the use of other medicines for the treatment of anxiety was terminated. A physician should always be consulted before starting any natural treatment with 5HTP.
